Iron oxide is a chemical compound formed of iron and oxygen. A total of about 16 types of iron oxide and ox hydroxide are present. The iron hydroxide is immediately converted to vapor in ambient air to a stable iron oxide. The resulting product will gradually turn into orange, red, brown and black as the temperature rises. .
